Overview
We are currently looking for a kitchen assistant to join our team at Dunbar Garden Centre. The position would come with a 22.5hr(3 Shifts)/ week contract including weekend shifts. In this role, you will support the preparation and presentation of delicious food, ensure food safety standards are maintained, and contribute to a smooth kitchen operation. We are looking for a reliable and conscientious candidate who communicates well with others and has a “can do” attitude. While experience in a similar fast paced kitchen environment is desirable we will consider a less experienced candidate who can demonstrate a willingness to learn and an excellent work ethic.
Duties
- Preparation of salad, vegetables, sandwich and baked potato fillings.
- Preparing customer orders in a timely and organised manner.
- Support food safety protocols by maintaining cleanliness, proper storage of ingredients, and adhering to hygiene standards at all times
- Help with kitchen organisation by stocking supplies, cleaning workstations, and ensuring equipment is functioning properly
- Support the kitchen team by performing basic cooking tasks under supervision
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to create a safe environment for staff and customers alike
Experience
- Previous experience in a fast paced catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is highly desirable
- Familiarity with food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene and sanitation
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
