Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef/Cook to join our kitchen team at Dunbar Garden Centre. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a keen eye for food safety and presentation. The position would offer a 37.5hr week working 5 days out of 7 with daytime shifts hours only. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who thrives under pressure to join our kitchen team in the production of tasty and wholesome produce for our restaurant and farm shop.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1 years experience in a similar role, we would however also consider a less experienced candidate who could demonstrate a knowledge of good homestyle cooking and a willingness to learn.
The candidate would be working along side our head chef and second chef to ensure our restaurant continues to provide an excellent experience for our customers. Good communication skills and an ability to work well as as part of a team would be essential. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing meals, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and supporting the overall kitchen operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and menu specifications
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards
- Assist in menu planning and presentation to ensure visual appeal and quality
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times
- Support the team during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery of orders
- Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management and ordering
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to uphold a safe working environment
Experience
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices
- Experience in meal preparation across various cuisines is desirable
- Familiarity with food safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
